What would you recommend for ED caused by anxiety? Just the thought of not being able to get hard inhibits my libido and erections. However, I’m rock hard while getting BJs bc I’m fully relaxed I assume. Could Phenibut or Selank help?

Why you anxious bro? It's not that serious.

Phenibut would definitely work, but you have bigger problems if you rely on a hard drug to have sex.

Semax + Selank is more reasonable, but still doesn't address the root cause.

Your mindset is the root cause, so will have to fix that. Although 10mg of cialis and maybe 2.5mg of PT-141 might help by bypassing anxiety with brute force hahaha. Can be a valuable tool to overcome your fear.

Not medical advice. Talk to your doc

Do you have any experience with Low-Dose Naltrexone (LDN)? Found an incredibly based doctor (he’s also a fellow subscriber) and he cannot say enough good things about it. I’ve obsessively done TONS of research and I keep thinking there has to be a catch because it seems to be too good and too effective to be true. Why would everyone not be on this?

The ONLY negative I have found is that studies have found LDN to reduce Pro-Inflammatory Cytokines. Since this kind of inflammation is actually necessary to create muscle fibers and strength adaptations, it would make it very difficult for the body to build appreciable muscle mass from resistance training and exercise. This would be a HUGE negative for me but it’s the only negative I have found.

Linking below first-hand accounts of this as well as published studies:

Yes, huge fan of LDN and have some stuff coming out on that shortly

LDN = 1 to 5mg seems more effective for inflammation management

While ULDN ~20ug twice daily according to pioneer of human evolution Grimhood, is more effective for anhedonia, depression, ADHD, addition recovery, and overall repair of dopaminergic & opioid system

Expand full comment

Much appreciated. Any validity to the negative impact it may have on muscle growth due to its reduced Pro-Inflammatory Cytokines?

Expand full comment
author

I wouldn't worry about it at all. It works by blocking opioid receptors, which is upregulates the production of endorphins and enkephalins the latter which has an immunomodulatory effect. So more so reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines in instances of chronic inflammation rather than an acute anti-inflammatory pathway like NSAIDS which can definitely inhibit gains if overdone

Expand full comment

This makes me really want to pull the trigger now. I’ve done countless hours of research on this and this was the one thing holding me back. There are lots of users on Reddit and other social media LDN communities that say they can’t build muscle anymore on it and their theory was the anti-inflammatory response. Basically like popping ibuprofens after every lift. This makes sense to me but I wasn’t completely sold. Maybe they’re all training with zero intensity/purpose and are blaming their lack of gains on the LDN?

Expand full comment
author

Yeah lots of redditors are training with zero intensity hahaha. I haven't noticed any issues

Expand full comment

yea I’d love to see what they’re actually doing/eating to gain muscle and more than likely that would be the issue rather than LDN. Research has actually shown LDN to increase IGF-1 and Free T so if anything maybe it’s actually anabolic. I’m looking forward to your upcoming LDN posts. Hopefully don’t lose all my gains in the meantime hahaha

Hey man,

Do you know of anything that can be applied to heal / minimize scars? The scar is 1 year old. I looked into laser surgery potentially...

Thanks in advance!

Topical GHK-CU from Mirror Skin or Injectable GHK + Dailt Red Light device application. Should make a big difference. See how it looks then and assess from there.

1. Got 250mg BPC-157 oral tabs to repair my gf's digestion. Each is 250mcg. She's around 110lbs. what seems like a solid dose for this usecase? (saw consensus is 500mcg per day, up to twice per day. but idk if that's for someone twice her weight lol)

2. Gotten a chance to try castor oil yet? topical use for sleep/detox

Last week I had a question regarding light exposure and late night work. https://open.substack.com/pub/thebowtiedbiohacker/p/ultimate-guides-for-noobs-ask-me?r=eclg2&utm_campaign=comment-list-share-cta&utm_medium=web&comments=true&commentId=60373715

I had a follow up question there.

So I've been getting more evening light and no bright lights after sunset recently, and I really struggle to not just stay focused but literally staying awake.

Obviously, I know my melatonin production works as I wouldn't have this issue without blocking blue light.

How shall I go about this?

I don't want stimulants but need to stay more awake.

Shall I just stand or walk slowly on the walking pad under the desk while working?

Sitting seems to relax me too much to only want sleep and nothing else after like 11:30pm.

Thanks

No stims? Hard Mode is always fun.

Take a cold shower if you can.

If not, drop and do some burpees/pushups, do some hyperventilating, slap yourself in the face, put some freezing cold water on your face/neck, yell, etc.v Can do that as needed. These all activate the sympathetic nervous system for endogenous stimulants since you aren't a fan of exogenous stimulants.

I'm not necessarily opposed to stims, I just need something that doesn't disturb sleep. Thanks

What is a good 4x a week lifting split that you recommend? Really trying to focus on strength gain so I’m incorporating a few more rest days. Still going to do the 30 mins of zone 2 cardio after lifts.

My three rest days will include stretching and walking 10k+ steps.

Trying to bring up my chest and shoulders for a reference point

Can do Push Pull Legs and train 4 times a week

Week 1: Push, Pull, Legs, Push

Week 2: Pull, Legs, Push, Pull.

Week 3: Legs, Push, Pull, Legs

etc. etc. etc.

Or if you really want to focus on chest/shoulders

Push, Pull, Push, Legs

Is mulungu bark good for daily use? Wanted to try it next. Still having a lot of trouble sleeping, seems like my mind and body refuse to relax. I wake up after 'sleeping' for 6-8 hours and feel exactly the same as when I went to bed. Got cortisal tested and it was only 17. Even with breathing exercises, tons of mag, good circadian, and blue light blockers at night. Try and get daily sun exposure and cardio/gym several days of the week. No snoring, 6'1 155 lbs so doubt I have sleep apnea. Tried Sleeping with mouth taped didnt notice any difference really. Feel like I'm in a permanent muddy fog throughout my day for the last 2 years and my sleep is key to fixing it. Any other suggestions highly appreciated.

Mulungu can be used daily, no issues there!

How much caffeine are you drinking and when's your last intake?

Expand full comment

120mg or less on the days i do drink it and never past 11am. I went a year without any caffeine and didnt notice a ton of difference. Insomnia runs really heavily in my family so probably fighting an uphill battle as is. Will get some Mulungu and any other tips would be appreciated. Seems like anything new I try works for 1-2 days then never again, maybe mulungu will be different.

Hey there, just wanted to give my two cents as i'm someone who deals with sleep apnea. I strongly recommend getting a sleep study done as you could have sleep apnea and just not realize it. I'm 5'11 and 175 pounds, fit and active, don't snore much but still have it. Sleep apnea does not only affect people that are obese and unhealthy. You could have poor throat anatomy and some obstruction that is unrelated to your weight.

I tried various things like mouth tape, supplements, maintaining healthy circadian rhythm, consistent exercise, but nothing helped much. I also believed I couldn't have sleep apnea since i'm in great shape and it took me years to connect the dots. Definitely get a sleep study done and just a heads up, if you happen to have sleep apnea, mouth tape can be risky because it can obstruct your throat further.

I discovered I have massive grade 4 tonsils blocking a significant part of my airway so i'm opting for surgery to hopefully resolve my sleep apnea. Get checked out with an ENT or get a sleep study done, you could have the same issue as me. Good luck man

Thank you sir, I'm gonna try going to get some deep tissue massages or something as I've always held a lot of tension in my neck/upper back and see if that can help. If that doesn't improve it I will look into a sleep study, thank you.

That's 2 questions

Re: HGH, the real marker you want to measure is IGF-1. GH comes in pulses that are inhibited by things like food & stress. Get IGF-1 next time. For natty HGH maxxing lifestyle: perfect micro and macronutrient diet, daily to EOD high intensity exercise 80-90% max HR at least 10 minutes, 3x week sauna, and some extended fasting once per month (48 hr sweet spot)

Prolactin is high, could be a million things. Porn/masturbation, weed, kratom, recreational drugs, alcohol, medications, prolactinoma, etc.

Might want to get checked for a prolactinoma as that can also cause low HGH levels in addition to the high prolactin

What are reasonable expectations about the time it takes to start noticing benefits of taking enclomiphene? Based on labs, what markers would you look at to determine if it is working properly?

Depends WHY you are taking enclomiphene?

Bring up T levels. In the high 400s low 500s. Worked with primary care to optimize sleep, nutrition, blood panels. We did all of that with not much movement in T. This felt like the next step prior to trying TRT but trying to avoid that for as long as possible.

Expand full comment
author

Who told you this was the next step before trying TRT? Enclomiphene may bring up testosterone levels, but only as long as you're taking it. It's not some sort of permanent solution. I'm currently writing an article about this, actualy.

Enclomiphene sides to look out for: high estradiol, low IGF-1, increased risk of blood clots, visual disturbances, elevated liver enzymes

^ THIS is why it's not a sustainable option for increasing testosterone IMO, but it has it's merits for fertility / short term HPTA restoration

What's your bodyfat percentage at? You won't hit max T levels without being lean enough to have a clearly defined 6 pack.

What are you basing your need for T on? Libido? There are tons of other factors that go into libido, sex hormones are almost less important than others.

How is your phyisque? How are your secondary sex characteristics? This might tell you a bit about androgen receptor sensitivity. Tons of men with high sensitive androgen receptors will have test levels in the 500-600 range but look like real life manifestations of the Giga Chad meme,

It's all subjective & up to you and your doctor at the end of the day

I’m a healthy 23 year old, just got my blood work done recently and my Urea was 51.7Mg/DL

I eat about 200-260grams of protein a day, is this urea number something to be worried about?

I see that eating 10g+ of Glycine can support urea cycle from all the protein I’m eating(I don’t get 10g+ of glycine from diet currently)

what are you thoughts?
