How do you cope with and accept life changing injuries? Have been very fit and athletic all my life and I’ve seen the respect people give you for it. Whether people want to admit it or not, your physical appearance largely determines what people think about you and how much respect you receive.
Had a full scholarship for college baseball, injured my shoulder BAD and it won’t ever be the same, had to stop playing. Additionally had an incident two years later and caused a torn hip labrum and fractured back.
It’s been SO HARD to get back to any resemblance of what I once was and I’m trying every day. I haven’t given up but it’s so incredibly frustrating and depressing I can’t even put into words.
I have an amazing gf that I want to marry but I feel as if I’m not fit to be her protector or a protector for my children. I want my kids to have a strong, jacked father that they can play/lift with and always be safe around. I’m starting to think this may never happen as I cannot get back to my prime state and I feel like a failure.
My gf’s brother is also incredibly based and jacked and doesn’t want her sister to be with anyone that isn’t like him. I don’t blame him at all and want to prove that I am that guy.
I will keep working to be the best version of myself I can possibly be, but if I can never be the same ever again or be respected how I want to be, how can I change my mindset to not care and still receive respect from others?
How bad is it really bro? What's the deal with the shoulder?
I think you're gonna make it. Ironically, I've had the torn labrum and a crippling shoulder injury too so I know how it is.
Your mindset must change first and foremost. If you believe you won't be a good protector, you won't be.
People have recovered from much worse predicaments. You have unlimited resources and knowledge, great herbal meds and supp, peptides, HRT at your disposal to heal and become superhuman once more.
Dislocated shoulder and complete labrum tear. Hip is also a labrum tear. I did 1 year of PT and literally nothing has changed. I can do pushups,pull-ups, air squats, dips. But if I try to do anything with weight whatsoever it’s not possible. I’ve been doing practically calisthenics and cardio this entire time but I need to get bigger and stronger. I’m capable of so much more.
Insurance is changing so now the deductible is too high and practically nothing will be covered. Don’t have the money to be spending on these resources. Trying to find a way out of this hole, but feels like it’s closing in each day. Wake up every day at 5am and follow PTs on YouTube that teach you to get back from these injuries until work and then I do whatever calisthenics I can do to maintain some mass and I haven’t missed a day. The effort is there and I haven’t given up but I can’t help but feel it’s a losing battle.
I’ve purchased programs from Bengal and Kobra and they helped me get to being able to do bodyweight exercises but I still can’t lift or play sports and their 1on1 is too expensive. Feel like I’ve exhausted my options.
For sure. Read them many times and saved all of them. My nutrition is definitely on point. I haven’t cheated once since being injured. I don’t deserve to cheat unless I’m back to my peak potential.
Truthfully, I don’t trust myself with the peptides as I have no experience and am quite confident I would mess something up and make matters worse.
That's good to hear! You glycine maxxing? Sufficient leucine and methionine? Are you at a deficit or surplus?
What nutritional cofactors are you consuming to promote collagen synthesis and how much?
And you don't trust yourself with peptides at all? Not even the BPC capsules? Not even the ones your body makes (BPC, TB, GHK) that help with healing, chronic inflammation, etc and you can't overdose on?
Interesting. Well, I'm sure you've read everything I've posted and spent hours doing your own independent research before you came to this conclusion so that's good
I took nutrition moreso meaning diet and not the above factors. Going to continue reading your info and implementing everything I can until I’m out of this predicament mentally and physically.
Also began cold plunges and cold showers to reduce inflammation a bit but mostly to give myself a challenge and some sort of competition since I’ve lost that once college career was over and can’t get it in the weightoom at the moment
It was put on the back burner when I started the Patreon page. I’ll be resuming writing regularly again once I complete getting this new LLC partnership rolled out and may have a more modern option available soon.
Hello Grim, I have a mild stutter that only occur when I take stimulants or feel extra excitory in my brain. Is there potential for a glutamate/Gaba imbalance, You also mentioned dopamine signaling being a potential issue what does that mean?
Ps I never stutter when i drink alcohol so it’s leading me to think it’s gaba related.
I’m 22 and have been extremely addicted to social/online media (YouTube, IG, Twitter) for at least 10 years. I’ve attempted dopamine detoxing but always bounce back here. At this point it cuts into my life. If you guys were in my shoes, how would you combat something like this? Brain feels truly fried sometimes.
You need the most extreme reset imaginable. There's some aspect of personal development you've been neglecting, hence the addiction, therefore you should focus on that + pick up a new project
I appreciate what both of you fine lads are doing.Learned so much from your accounts. In light spirit want to ask silly question, gun to your head if you had to guess, how long is Bryan Johnson going to live if he ofc continues with his over the top protocols
Have to agree here. There’s a lot I personally believe he’s getting wrong that is being based off animal and worm studies on longevity, it’s very unlikely they play out as expected in the longterm. Most of his blood markers do look good for now though.
I’m curious your thoughts synthetic cannabinoids. The word "cannabinoid" is in their name, but what I felt while using them had nothing cannabis. About 10-12 years ago, I used them very frequently for about a year. I had three experiences where I was absolutely convinced I was going to die(hypertensive or hipotensive effects)
Now I have some arrhythmias (ectopic beats) that have no identifiable cause. Although I have greatly improved them over the last three years, they still challenge me at times. The fact that they increase with stress convinces me that the problem is entirely brain-related. Can these things cause permanent brain damage?
I was addicted to synthetic cannabinoids around that same period 12-13 years ago when the classic analogs first came out and before the more toxic ones available now. Had similar experiences and even blacked out standing up one time, breaking my nose on the fall.
Depending which ones you used specifically (assuming it’s the similar group of chemicals I was using around that same period), you’ll be perfectly fine especially if you focus on your foundation and supporting neurogenesis. I’m doing 1000x better now than I was shortly after quitting (withdrawal was also insanely more intense than actual cannabis).
The Dream Team! Have already learned so much from both of you - so thanks first and foremost. Symptoms of stress and anxiety have massively improved to the point where they're 90% gone. They came from drinking heavily/massive physical stress from endurance sports for a decade.
I am doing the basics - no alcohol, no smoking, no caffeine, no other drugs, light environment, sleep, daily cardio, resistance, micronutrients, 1/2lb salmon daily along with eggs, kefir, berries, other foods & supplementing w 1.5g elemental mag, 15g inositol, 300mg TTFD, 1g CDP choline, B6/Folate/B12 for methylation which helped cognitive flexibility massively.
I've been doing the above for 1.5 years, however I'm noticing that my brain still doesn't feel like it's operating at 100%.
In particular my memory just doesn't pick things up that fast and I find it takes a huge amount of energy to cycle between tasks. I also become cognitively drained quite easily. My verbal dexterity is also quite low which is annoying as I talk for a living.
Not sure if my GABA/Glutamate system still needs work, or if I need extra firepower.
Grim - I've seen you write about permanently increasing IQ before and UM I've seen you write about stacks that allow you to push limits of cognitive work.
I'm wondering what I can add to my protocol to reach savant levels of brainpower and energy?
Adamax & Sabroxy have worked well for locking in on boring tasks. Cerebrolysin hasn't agreed with me when I tried it for a week (makes me feel ill/nauseous - not sure if batch or substance itself). Psylocibin made me feel more cognitively fluid. But not found a specific stack that's really got me to where I feel like I used to be before I started partying like a mad man.
Regarding the drinking heavily, was there anything else involved in terms of drug use during that period?
What does the rest of the diet consist of and macro split? Cognitive tasks can be quite energy demanding as I’m sure you’re able to tell already, so caloric intake on days that require higher performance may require matched higher energy intake as you’ll be burning through calories and substrates at a faster rate like you would with high intensity physical performance.
Have you gone any days without the B vitamins and particularly choline? How do you feel on those days?
If you observe the pharmacology of what IS working for you, targeting those pathways through less acute and intense means and focusing on upregulation through neurogenesis (increased neurotrophic factors, nutritional surplus, optimized sleep, disciplined light environment, etc.), those effects can be sustained in more of the longterm.
Protein 200g/Carbs 350g/Fat 110g and I’m 170lbs at about 17% BF
I have gone days without B vits and choline - I notice that my mind is stickier and without the inositol I have rampant intrusive thoughts which go from annoying to preventing action.
With those things they are still present but I can just ignore them. This positive effect was amplified when I quit caffeine too.
I did a NutrEval 2 weeks ago which came back with moderate-high need for:
B1
B3
B7
B6
B9
Vitamin E
Mag
Zinc
Probiotics/gut enzymes
So might suggest somethings eating up B vits or mitochondrial function is low?
Which neurotrophic factors could I focus on alongside this?
Hey gents. Bio, the Jack Kruse interview you shared on X was insightful. Jack mentioned that overweight individuals often maintain positive cognitive function despite physical challenges, while on the opposite end, those who are skinny may have decent physical health but experience impaired cognition. I’m trying to better understand what he meant by this as I’ve been very skinny most of my and experienced fluctuating day to day cognition. Any and all insights would be great. Thank you Grim and Bio.
He probably said that because if you're skinny you're probably nutrient deficient, including DHA which is essential for brain function, and under chronic low grade stress from the low calories. Likely eating outside your circadian clock too.
It’s going to be very dependent on the individual and a multitude of other factors and I’ve personally observed both in my client work as well as interacting with so many people online.
If the overweight or muscular (high mass) individual is otherwise healthy and eating solid diet with low inflammatory triggers, metabolic health is solid, light environment/circadian rhythm, and all the other foundational aspects of health are in place, cognition can be perfectly fine. If they’re not, it’s going to generally be the complete opposite.
In my experience with being severely underweight to much higher body mass comparatively now, my cognition is still high but my brain received more of the energy my muscles are otherwise putting to use now.
I’d zero in on your foundation first to see if the issue can be remedied, but in general, getting to a healthier weight is advised if underweight.
After 2 months of trt (200mg) my test is 1558 and my estradiol is 58. I'm having issues with the high estrogen so my plan is to go from pinning 4 days a week to everyday totaling 200 mg. Will this drop my estrogen or do I need to drop my trt amount. I don't want to add an aromatizer.
whats up grim and UM. starting to run HGH. in your experience is it best to slowly ramp up the dosage? Wanted to start with 1.5iu for the first week and then go do 3iu for 10 weeks. Thanks for any suggestions of what has worked for you guys!
What would be the purpose? more than 1 or 1.5 iu, assuming it's good shit, will likely give supraphysiological IGF-1 which is nice and all, but comes with sides and isn't as useful without being stacked with anabolics
Ok so question for grim, I made a topical magnesium solution, used magnesoium chloride from the brand Pure. Filled up one of the small spray bottles 3/4 of the way and filled it with distilled water, after spraying anywhere on my body, it dries up within a couple minutes on my skin and leaves sort of like this white powder over my skin. Is that normal and what can I do to the solution get around it?
Let's say you're going to run a 10% DHT gel on your eggplant and very worried about shutting down natural T but have determined the upside of Chad-like characteristics outweigh the negatives in the long run. You'd probably start by getting the full Testosterone baseline test that you recommend in your T guide.
Then, what blood markers would you test (and when), say for a 3-6 month cycle, and maybe some things to look for?
I wouldn't do it. I would not put DMSO on my eggplant or use that high concentration of a product. Seriously. There's no mitigation protocol for this because it's so dumb. I'd use andractim or something similar.
What are your recommendations for combatting autoimmune conditions, specifically Ankylosing Spondylitis. Trying to avoid starting biologics such as TNF-a inhibitors. Pretty healthy and active at baseline.
How do you cope with and accept life changing injuries? Have been very fit and athletic all my life and I’ve seen the respect people give you for it. Whether people want to admit it or not, your physical appearance largely determines what people think about you and how much respect you receive.

Question: have you by chance seen any of my posts about BPC-157, TB-500, GHK-CU, Nutrition, etc?

Have tried so far:

-magnesium glycerophosphate, acetyl-taurate, glycinate

- Physical Therapy
- Glycine before bed

Wen Grimhood book?
(BTB id buy if you wrote one too, but Grim mentioned having one in the works awhile back)
You any good at writing?
Decent

Time to disappear for 3 months.
Seriously.
Delete it all.
You need the most extreme reset imaginable. There's some aspect of personal development you've been neglecting, hence the addiction, therefore you should focus on that + pick up a new project
Try to replace it with smth much more interesting
And try deleting it lol
What would you do if took the mRNA vaccine and regretted it? want to rid of the spike protein or any potential future effects

Average lifespan

Drug use - right at the start there was daily weed for roughly 9 months but after that nothing, surprisingly
Rest of diet:
Breakfast: kefir, blueberries, honey, whey, eggs, fresh cod liver
Snack: fruit
Lunch: lean pork/steak, potatoes
Snack: fruit, milk

Not sure if I'm too late to the party...
How does one increase their verbal ability? i.e. ability to access words faster, and retain a larger vocabulary.
Lots of reading, writing, and speaking

Yeah, it's normal. That white residue is just magnesium. It doesn't all get absorbed. If you don't like it, simply wash it off :)
I've seen you talk about not taking stimulants while taking 9-mebc, why is that?
You gotta be careful combining stims with something that increases dopamine signaling
