Hey BTB, I remember you posting about how herbal supplements were far superior and tagging grim on twitter, then I saw your post of top 5 supps for cognition/memory and saw you included Bacopa and Gingko.

I was wondering what herbal supplements were you referring to in that post when you tagged grim? Anything specific you had recently tried?

There are too many to list, but ill tell you what tea I drink that puts me to sleep BETTER than traditional sleep supps and even pharmaceuticals

Mulungu bark

Blue lotus

Gotu kola

Happiness tree bark

Lemon balm

Holy basil

Red sage

Skull cap

Basically just combining grim's mulungu, lotus & "easy journey" blend into a tea

Best sleep / dreams every time. Even counteracts caffeine and adderall for me 😂

Newbie here where/how do I source this tea blend?

Thanks, on the waiting list - so now we wait haha

On the same topic, do you have some sort of night/morning routine or habits?

Do you think combining a red light panel with a Sperti lamp is worth it during summer? Is the red light still needed?

Expand full comment

Red light is definitely worth supplementing if you aren't getting it from sunrise/sunset. Obviously real sun is the best case scenario

Hey, if I had the $ I would buy the vit d lamp he has on his linktree, can find it on his twitter bio

Started following your PPL program and loving it. You mentioned quads respond better to the 15-20 rep range. So just to confirm, if I’m doing squats, you’re generally recommending higher rep with lower weight. Is that correct?

Expand full comment

Yeah, for growth definitely.

However... If you aren't strong at squats yet, you might want to hit 4 plates by working in the 5 to 8 rep range.

Your legs won't grow much, but once u can sweat 405 for 5 reps, you stick with that weight and by the time you can hit 15-20 reps you'll be yuge

What’s a comprehensive blood test panel someone can purchase from Quest or Labcorp that would be good for checking levels every 3-4 months?

Expand full comment

Hmm it depends on your needs and goals and budget bro

I'd say at the very least: CBC, CMP, hsCRP, Lipid Panel & add Cystatin C if you are a srs lifter

You could also check thyroid and test/e2 if that's something u think you need to monitor

Idk it depends on a lot of things, but that's a pretty good starting point that won't completely break the bank

You can also add a urinalysis they're usually only 8 bucks.

1) What’s a high level explanation of how anabolics help build muscle? Is it all about increasing nutrition partitioning towards muscles vs fat, ie. in a caloric surplus, the enhanced lifter partitions the excess calories towards muscle more efficiently versus the natural lifter.

2) I recently got Vit D test and I’m slightly deficient. I’m shocked. I got a lot of sun during summer and I always get super tan (without burning). If I'm in the sun I'm the type that get's completely bronzed and I do 10k+ steps daily in the sun during the summer. Could colder weather already be the cause since I’m not outside?

Happy New Year!

Anabolic hormones exert anabolic / anticatabolic effects through many pathways. They attach to AR in the the muscle cells and increase the ability to create new proteins while decreasing the ability to let go of protein. They also block cortisol, which is known for facilitating glucose release, fat storage, and muscle breakdown. Because of this you not only partition nutrients better, you get to eat MORE & build MORE, all while breaking down less muscle and using more fat for energy 😎

You are the skin type that needs more sun than pale people / people who burn. 10k steps outside may not be enough. Supplemental sun lamps (according to science) & even a lil tanning bed use (in my non science ) based opinion) is preferable to vitamin d supplementation. But I also like to supplement with cod liver oil which has a decent amount of Viit A and D in it.

Are you able to post on hair growth / maintenance (on your head of course) including peptides and other things that help?

Hey I know you don’t want the answer from me, but essential oils and alobe vera gel helped a lot for me. Great resources include: the complete book of essential oils by marie ann worwood and wild beauty by jana blankenship.

Then there is minoxidil, not sure how healthy that is though since its sinthetic

Hey Mark. Curious to know how you found using the treatments. I want to stay away from Minoxidil. What difference did it make for you. Did you grow hair, maintain, etc.

Awesome. Thank you

Hey I started using an aloe vera concuction and an essential oil mix to enjance my eyebrows. Started 1 week ago, 1x - 2x / day, starting to have thicker and fuller brows. I don’t expect anything drastic in a week, more like in 3 months

Hey Biohacker! Based on information I’ve learned from your content here and on Twitter, I’ve decided to start TRT, and was prescribed 200 mg test per week by a TRT clinic. My plan is to increase to 300 mg after 2-3 months if all goes well. A bloodwork review with a doctor is included, but I don’t get the impression it’s particularly rigorous or comprehensive. If I go somewhere else to have my bloodwork done, what are the most important metrics to pay attention to? Do you have any general advice for running trt safely and effectively?

I have always had hair that grows back unbelievably quick all over my body and my face (head as well), I have a deep voice and a libido that comes and goes. My facial hair grows long and grows quick but it is patchy and only grows in a few spots. I am wondering if this a DHT issue (obiviously i will need to get bloodwork to confirm) however, what would you do hear outside of the usual minoxidil? Sounds like a DHT issue or I am genetically less hairy?

When you were doing your “get big” 20 day eggplant routine, you mentioned you had 1 session that was painful and you lost morning wood and erection the next day. How long did it take to come back? Did you go see a doctor? Signed...someone who may have done the same thing.

For the benefit of others here - went to the doc, found out I caused myself a penile edema. I was freaked out 24 hours after. But they said with rest, blood would be slowly absorbed back into body. I’m 72 hours later for

Injury and am 80-90% better based on normal morning wood, but waiting for follow up with doc before resuming sexual activity with spouse.

RE: the 48 hr fast—would you ever have a protein shake the night of day 2? When it’s actually been 48 hours since last eating? 2 days of no eating is actually closer to 60 hours from meal to meal—just wondering about the science and efficacy of it all since sleeping the 2nd night (48 hrs+ in) is tough

For magnesium: what’s your favorite brand? How much do you take daily and do you use it in the morning or pre-sleep?

Question on your “eggplant” protocol. In my younger days, I had done jelqing and had made the mistake of jelqing when I was erect. I damaged the tissue and my manhood has been permanently slightly smaller since then. I am not eager to pump or do more stretches since I don’t have the time and am deathly afraid I’ll do more damage. My life has turned out just fine (great wife and daughter) but is there a way to healthily repair my penis so that the tissues I have damaged could regain their original size? Would taking the BPC-157, PT-141, Tadalafil, MK-677 and collagen peptides help with penile health/growth regardless if you pump or not?

Expand full comment

Jelqing is notorious for causing damage. Pumps are well studied and safe as long as appropriate time and pressure are used. Look up "interval pumping" for the safest method. If you use chemical enhancement youll just get temporary growth. Perhaps very slight permanent gains. Aside drom tadalafil, you can't really take that stuff every day. Ideally you do pumping under doc supervision and reverse your losses

Starting 8-week cycle with 25mg Ostarine daily to preserve muscle while loosing weight. Would you suggest combining with a SERM?

Not a good idea bro 😂

Maybe hcg and AI or enclom and AI, but you're gonna have much worse health consequences and gains than if you manned up and shot some test or did it natty

In what settings is a carb refeed day beneficial and how should it be structured in terms of calorie intake relative to usual intake?

Expand full comment

It makes sense on a ketogenic diet, particularly while dieting. There's CKD where you carb up once a week. On that day you'll probably still want a slight deficit to maintenance. On regular keto, you might want to deploy one every 4-6 weeks / whenever you start feeling weak & hungry all the time. The idea is to boost leptin to fix satiety and boost fat loss, as well as offset some muscle loss with the anabolic boost from the insulin secretion and improved gym performance due to full glycogen stores. In this scenario you prob wanna est at maintenance or like a 300 calorie surplus. It's very important to get your 10mg potassium per gram of carb so you can actually store the glycogen.
