Gmulungu, Superhumans. UM here. I’m getting tons of questions about what’s best to use for light optimization and circadian health, so I’m just going to dump it all on one page. Remember, the sun has the perfect spectrum and no product comes close to its efficacy. However, there are a few indoor lighting products that are seriously life-changing for those of us who can’t go fully off the grid and live in nature 24/7. While the majority of red light products are worthless because they don’t have enough power or the diodes aren’t good quality, the team and I have tried all the shitty products so you don’t have.
Red/IR Therapy
There are a lot of people that are going to be pissed at me for telling you guys this, but Red/IR > any supplement or peptide.
A quality Red and Infrared device is mandatory for anyone who’s going to be spending several hours of their days indoors and under artificial lighting, AKA everyone in the modern world. I’ll admit, I never really believed the benefits were that great until I tried it myself. Joint health, recovery, pain reduction, energy/mood/cognition boost, hair growth, and great skin are just some of the reasons Red/IR therapy is worth it.
Anti-Aging Effects:
Increases collagen and elastin synthesis
Hair Growth (Absolutely works better than finasteride, you just need high Wattage and quality diodes)
Removes wrinkles
Gives your skin that healthy glow
Essentially GHK-CU in light form. When you add the two together, 1+1=3
Metabolic Effects:
Reduces blood sugar response by 30% (specifically 670nm red light)
Improves nutrient clearance from the bloodstream
Helps clear glucose from the blood
Stimulates mitochondrial metabolism
Pain & Recovery:
Reduces pain in affected areas
Reduces the need for pain medicine post-surgery
Reduces opiate use through photobiomodulation
Improves tissue recovery
Balance & Regulation:
Balances out blue light's effects
Counteracts negative effects of blue light
Helps establish proper circadian rhythm
Training/Athletic Benefits:
Improves energy production for muscle activity
Enhances training response
Reduces neuromuscular fatigue
Reduces central nervous system fatigue
Improves recovery capacity
Mental/Cognitive:
Helps create parasympathetic state
Supports learning and neuroplasticity
Creates more flexible/adaptive state
Improves mental focus
Sleep Benefits:
Safe to use several hours before bed (unlike blue light)
Supports natural sleep patterns
Doesn't disrupt melatonin (unlike blue)
Cellular Benefits:
Stimulates water production in cells
Improves cellular hydration
Penetrates deeply into tissues
Creates structured water in tissues
Improves circulation
Makes tissues more supple
Brings heat to tissues
Reduces inflammation
Supports tissue repair/regeneration
This is my daily driver and it is a BEAST of a Red/IR machine. It’s blasting 1400W of 630nm, 670nm, and 850 pretty ridiculous nm light. I am currently hanging one on my door and using this for 20 minutes, naked, 3 times daily. Between that, my afternoon UV supplementation, daily circadian living, and sunmaxxing, I’m recovering faster and looking better than I have in 2 years and I’m not even using any peptides currently. It usually runs for $950 but they’re 30% off with my link or code BOWTIED until November 22nd, so $665 for essentially a lifetime (30,0000 hours) of Red/IR therapy is a pretty good deal, considering it pays for itself in a couple of weeks.
The chroma iron forge is the only other red/IR device on the market that packs the same power as EMR-Tek. This is a handheld device, so it’s ideal for people on the go or traveling. If you want to use it on your full body, you’ll have to hold it awkwardly in one spot for 2 minutes and slowly swipe across your body. Worth it while traveling? Absolutely. I just wouldn’t do it daily when I can get an inferno that covers my whole body.
UV Therapy
Imagine there was an endogenous pharmacy that could hook you up with Adderall, Xanax, Oxycontin, PT-141, Melanotan, Ozempic, Semax, Selank, KPV, Viagra and Cialis every single day without side effects, tolerance, or addiction?
Turns out there is! UV-B stimulates POMC expression, which turns into peptide hormones like:
ACTH: Semax and Selank are derived from this. Regulates adrenal functions and has an impact on everything from mood and energy to immune function.
a-MSH: Makes you tan, horny, less hungry, more insulin sensitive, less inflamed, better bloodflow, and more! PT-141, Melanotan, and KPV are derived from this.
β-Endorphin: Your body’s natural morphine/oxycontin/percs/vicodin. This is what makes you feel good and content no matter what situation you’re in. You’re not craving anything, not reaching for the phone or vape, not fiending for your next hit of “insert cheap dopamine here” because your hedonic tone and pain perception are regulated.
α-Endorphin: Your body’s natural amphetamine. Gets you amped up, focused, and makes painful things feel rewarding and enjoyable.
γ-Endorphin: Your body’s natural antipsychotics and benzos. Keeps you calm under difficult of circumstances.
UV-A light: Stimulates nitric oxide production, which means better blood flow, blood pressure, muscle pumps, and 🍆 pumps
The Best UV Lights
This light is an affordable, and reliable source of indoor UVB (and some UVA) to access that photonic pharmacy and increase your vitamin D levels. It’s also FDA APPROVED (not that we usually care about that). The Sperti D lamp is my daily driver, and I’ve been hooked ever since I started using it because the benefits are immediate. There’s no question whether or not it works; get your 25-hydroxy Vitamin D bloodwork and see for yourself.
Side note: Vitamin D supplements are absolutely not a replacement for endogenously produced vitamin D. Our body makes a ton of different types of Vitamin D that all have their own important functions; this can not be replicated with Vit D3 (cholecalciferol) supplementation.
If I had to pick two lights, it’d be the Sperti D and the Inferno. I frequently use them together in the middle of the day to mimick afternoon sun.
The Sperti Fiji is the ultimate UVA tanning lamp (has some UVB as well for that sweet sweet POMC and Vit D). I usually use this daily as well, so I can get the full spectrum of desirable wavelengths.
In the middle of the day, I’ll have the 3 going and positioned to hit my skin while rotating my body 90 degrees in intervals so I can make sure to get full coverage. The Fiji keeps your skin tan, and looking healthy, and gets nitric oxide production going to achieve that “Diamond Cutter D”
I wish they released BRAND NEW EMR-TEK LIGHT sooner so I wouldn’t have to use 3 separate lamps. The Krypton is like both Spertis put in the Inferno for the perfect all-in-one device. I’ve just ordered one, so I’ll review it soon, but looking at the specs I can already tell this is the superior option and will stimulate even more POMC and vitamin D with better coverage. The krypton comes in 2 sizes. The smaller one is okay if you’re willing to spend more time under it, making sure to hit different parts of your body. Again, 30% off with code BOWTIED until November 22nd, otherwise 20% usually.
Does anyone know if the Krypton allows you to toggle the UV capability on/off?
Read online that you can get the inferno equivalent on alibaba for cheaper something like this:
https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/280LEDs-1400W-Dual-Chip-Red-Light_1601060530591.html?spm=a2700.galleryofferlist.normal_offer.d_image.62af13a0WzeuTu
Thoughts on this? Or do you reckon better to be safe than sorry and stick to inferno regardless of price differential?
