Hey man, I have hair that grows back quick all over my head, my body and my face, I have a deep voice and a solid libido, my facial hair grows long and grows quick but it is patchy. I am wondering if this a DHT issue? Even though everything else seems fine. What would you do here outside of the usual minoxidi? I want a thicker beard but I do not want to use given the side effects. Any tips?

BowTied Biohacker's avatar

Maybe not a DHT issue, but an underexpression of 5AR in hair follicles. Might be the caseif you have a full head of hair. Minox works, but the side effects sketch me out. I've had sucess with bimatoprost (rx only), oral castor oil, GHK Cu serum, and microneedling.

I am hesitant to try bimatoprost, but would love to know your protocol with the Castor Oil, GHK Cu Serum, and microneedling. Thank you for the response.

How long after total knee replacement surgery should I wait before starting BPC 157?

BowTied Biohacker's avatar

I can't tell ya that. But what I can say is id start immediately

Rodney's avatar

Is there a preferred way of cycling it after a major surgery?

Thanks for another double up!

1) Can Accutane be ran at a low dose and still achieve the same end goal of torching hormonal acne while minimizing side effects? Low dose starting at 10mg every day or every other day and then evaluate a few months later of the results (Tudca or Astralagus to support?)

2) Do you think tattoos pose major risks of skin cancer or any other downsides?

Hi. Thoughts on clomid to kickstart Testosterone (for someone with low T)?

BowTied Biohacker's avatar

When you come off of it your levels will return to what they were before if the root cause wasn't addressed

I noticed a comment you made about Dysport/Botox and “learning a lesson”. Could you expand a bit on this subject? I have had Dysport injections sporadically over many years. Thanks

Hey BTB - I have learned through reading you articles that I may have down regulated my metabolism. I did 9 months of fasting two days per week. I did 24H twice per week only on water. Now I’m trying to burn fat on keto and it “feels” slow. Did I “damage” my metabolism and what should I to ramp it up again?

Best supplementation for anti-aging/cognitive function? My dad is 60 and I've noticed he's more forgetful than usual. Obviously comes with the territory but wondering if there is anything that can give him cognitive boost, energy, overall health, etc.

FWIW, he is active daily and is overall great shape for age, but nutrition is suboptimal and he takes zero supplementation (not even multivitamin).

Any thoughts/input would be appreciated and thanks for the post!

The effect supplements have on cognitive function is miniscule compared to the dietary and lifestyle changes. If you were to track his food intake on cronometer and design a diet so that he's hitting his micronutrient goals daily, getting sufficient sunlight exposure, reducing blue light exposure in the evening, and getting sufficient REM / NREM sleep, the results would be over 10x better than any supplement. That said, can't go wrong with CDP choline, bacopa monieri and gingko biloba for safe cognition boosting supplements.

Thoughts on NAD+ supplementation, IV vs. injection vs. niagen?

L-Carnitine in the oral form good enough to help with stubborn weight around the belly? Obviously not skimping out on cardio, but beyond 40 now, so need all the help I can get.

BowTied Biohacker's avatar

L-Carnitine just helps a burn a little more fat that you normally would / increases performance via AR upregulation. Stubborn fat around the belly will come off eventually if a caloric deficit is sustained. Nothing besides maybe yohimbine is known to *target* stubborn areas, but many, including myself, cannot tolerate yohimbine well.

What supplements/peptides do you perceive as the biggest needle pushers?

BowTied Biohacker's avatar

Depends on what result you're looking to achieve?

1 - I take water with 1 scoop whey protein + 5g of creatine after my morning workout. I do 1 scoop of collagen peptides + 1 scoop Jocko Greens (similar to Athletic Greens) as an afternoon drink. Are these just placebos or are these safe and effective at helping with muscle growth and overall health? Would taking 2 scoops of whey with my morning shake be OK or would it be wasted?

2 - Want to supplement magnesium since I’ve heard great things from grimhood. Peter Attia takes Slow-Mag. Can you please recommend a specific brand or supplement to take? One that is top of the line and one that is cost effective?

BowTied Biohacker's avatar

Whey protein is just a source of protein. Think of it as food. It will help build muscle, but if you got the addition 30grams of protein from meat instead, you'd probably notice better gains. Creatine is highly researched and shown to be very effective. Athletic Greens isn't really doing much and isn't worth the money imo. I also believe 2 scoops of whey at once is a waste because it will digest too quickly and be converted to glucose. The solution is to do a quarter of a scoop every 15 minutes. If you sip on those 2 scoops over the course of 2-3 hours, you'll utilize a lot more of that protein for musclebuilding. I'm not a fan of branded magnesium. It's a cheap supplement and doesn't need to be fancy. I put magnesium chloride in my water (about 1 tsp per liter of water) and sip a few of those per day. i also take magnesium glycinate tablets in the evening and before bed. I aim for at least a gram of elemental mg per day. Sometimes if I'm stressed out I'll use a special kind of magnesium called magnesium acetyl taurate as it has strong calming properties.

How to pheromones increase ?

BowTied Biohacker's avatar

Quit porn/ fapping, engage in competitive activities, sufficient sunlight exposure, sufficient dietary fat and micronutrient intake.

EA's avatar

Hey BTB, thanks for another one. I can’t tell from my own experimentation and perhaps you have validated this. Fasted workouts, is there a benefit or is this fake science? In the same line, does it matter when I consume protein relative to workout? The research on both has not been conclusive to me.

What would a good protocol to speed up healing a decade long porn addiction be? Any insight much appreciated.

BowTied Biohacker's avatar

That's not going to be a quick recovery. Have to be okay with quitting forever and potentially having no libido for 3-12 months. Exercise will increase BDNF more than any supplements will, and nutrition / light exposure will play the biggest role in reparing dopamine / libido. Uridine, 7, 8-DHF, Gingko, Bacopa, Polygala, among others might be a useful addition to a recovery protocol, but don't count on them being the primary driver of results. If only it was as easy as taking some capsules...
